Abstract

Background: Menstruation is a physiological and cyclic state in the form of secret secretions consisting of blood and mucosal tissue from the nongravid uterus through the vagina. Menstrual cycle are normal if not less than 21 days and not exceed by 35 days. Factor that caused menstrual cycle disorders include hormonal disorders, reproductive organ grow th, nutritional status, stress, age, and metabolic diseases. Methodology: This study used a cross-sectional method and involved 52 women. The sampling technique used in this study is total sampling. The independent variable of this study is the body mass index and waist circumference while the dependent variable is the menstrual cycle. Results: Statistical analysis using the Cramer"™s V test obtained p = 0.038 showed a relation between body mass index (BMI) and menstrual cycle patterns. Statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test obtained p = 0.030 showed a relation between waist circumference with the menstrual cycle. Conclusion: There is a relations between body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference with the menstrual cycle.
