Abstract

This research aimed to develop Multimedia Computer Assisted Language Learning (Multimedia CALL) using a field trip animation model (FTA model) into supplementary material for the eighth graders in writing recount text. It was a research and development study. The research subjects were 8th-graders from both homogeneous gender classes of SMPIT Al Mumtaz Pontianak. The research procedure systematically comprised need analysis, needs exploration, the contextual realization of the materials, pedagogical materials development, the physical materials design, and materials evaluation. The needs analysis results revealed that they needed the supplementary writing material, providing integrated reading and listening practices, along with multi facilities so that they were able to compose a topic about a sightseeing trip for 200 words or above. Therefore, the researcher designed four serial and contextual writing learning units, enhanced by the enriched multimedia CALL tools in the material. Besides, the material evaluation found the material was appropriate and practical for the students to write a recount text.
