THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS BIOFERTILIZERS ON SWEET CORN GROWTH AND YIELD IN THE DOUBLE ROW SYSTEM IN PEAT LAND

Abstract

Sweet corn is a horticultural commodity that has been widely cultivated. One of the limiting factors for the growth of sweet corn plants is soil fertility. The main problem in utilizing peatlands is the limited by chemical and biological capabilities of the soil. Utilization and management efforts are needed to improve soil utility, especially peat, including using biofertilizers. This study aims were to inverstige the type of biofertilizer that can provide the best growth and yield for sweet corn with a double row cropping system on peatlands. The research was carried out in Rasau Jaya District, Kubu Raya Regency. The research was conducted from July to September 2022. The research design used the randomized block design experimental method which consisted of 4 treatments which were repeated 6 times. The treatments referred to were: A = Bioboost Biofertilizer, B = Bioconversion Biofertilizer, C = PGPR Biofertilizer and D = Tricoderma Biofertilizer. The observation variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf length, leaf area, plant fresh weight, plant dry weight, root volume, cob weight with husks, cob weight without husk, cob length, cob diameter, number of rows per plot. and cob weight per plot. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the types of biofertilizers Bioboost, Bioconversion, Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria  (PGPR) and Tricoderma harzianum  can be used to increase growth and yield of sweet corn.
