EFFECT OF BIOCHAR AND NPK ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF OKRA IN PMK SOIL

Okra plant is a vegetable commodity that has high economic value and is generally cultivated by the community. To increase okra production, it can expand the planting area by utilizing PMK soil as a plant growth medium. PMK soil has unfavorable chemical properties, such as low pH and lack of nutrient availability for plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the best dose of biochar and NPK fertilizer that can affect the growth and yield of okra plants in PMK soil. This research was conducted on the experimental land of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tanjungpura University, Pontianak City, from January to March 2024. The research method used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors. The first factor is biochar (b) and the second factor is NPK fertilizer (n), each consisting of 3 levels. Biochar treatment b1 = 5 tons/ha, b2 = 10 tons/ha, b3 = 15 tons/ha. NPK fertilizer n1 = 100 kg/ha, n2 = 200 kg/ha, n3 = 300 kg/ha. The treatments were repeated 3 times and each replication contained 3 sample plants, thus there were 81 plants. Research variables include plant height, root volume, plant dry weight, number of fruits per plant and fruit weight per plant. The results showed that the interaction of biochar and NPK did not provide the best growth and yield of okra on PMK soil.References
