UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIJAMUR EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN KELOR (Moringa oleifera Lamk.)TERHADAP Candida albicans SECARA IN VITRO

Abstract

Background: Candidiasis is a fungal infection that most often occur.
Resistence in case of candidiasis has been widely reported. Moringa
leaves (Moringa oleifera Lamk.)are used for treating fungal infections.
Objective : The aim of this study was to know antifungal activity, to
cognize minimal inhibitory concentration , and to find efective extract
concentration of moringa leaves to reduce Candida albicans growth.
Methods: Antifungal activity assesment using Kirby-Bauer disc difusion
method with 100%, 80%, 60%, 40% and 20% concentration. Moringa
leaves were extracted with maceration method using ethanol 70% solvent.
The positive control in this study was ketoconazole 15 µg/disk, while the
negative control was DMSO 10%. Results: Ethanol extract of moringa
leaves did not perform inhibition zone against Candida albicans growth.
Conclusion: Ethanol extract of moringa leaves did not have antifungal
activity toward Candida albicans growth. Minimum inhibitory concentration
and effective concentration of moringa leaves ethanol extract against
Candida albicans could not be determined.
