Abstract

ABSTRACT
Background?Asthma is a disease that has been becoming the community health problem, suffered by the children and adults from mild to severe disease, even can kill. House environment can contribute to asthma trigger factors, especially the existence of allergen and air pollution.
Aim?To know the description of the asthma trigger factors among the asthmatic patients in lung clinic and lung care room dr. Soedarso Pontianak General Hospital.
Methods?A kind of descriptive research by using cross-sectional study. Data was collected from medical record and interview of asthmatic patients during May to June 2011. Data was presented with frequency distribution table.
Results?The asthma trigger factors among the asthmatic patients in lung clinic and lung care room dr. Soedarso Pontianak General Hospital were exercise (66,7%), dust (62,5%), tobacco smoke (52,0%), weather change (48,9%), emotional change (30,2%), and certain food (17,7%).
Conclusion?The most common asthma trigger factor among the asthmatic patients in lung clinic and lung care room dr. Soedarso Pontianak General Hospital is exercise (66,7%). Great attention should be paid to avoid all potential trigger factors to prevent asthma attacks in individual asthmatic patients.
