HUBUNGAN ANTARA TERAPI SULFADOKSIN DENGAN KEJADIAN SINDROM STEVEN-JOHNSON DI RSU Dr.SOEDARSO PONTIANAK PERIODE 1 JANUARI 2007 - 31 DESEMBER 2010
Abstract
Background: Steven-Johnson syndrome is hypersensitivity disease mediated by immune complexes caused by some drugs, one of them is sulfadoxine. Sulfadoxine is one of antimalarial drug that used in Indonesia and high risk Stevens-Johnson syndrome cause.Objective: To determine correlation between sulfadoxine therapy with the occurrence of Steven-Johnson syndrome at RSU dr.Soedarso Pontianak in 1 January 2007- 31 December 2010.
Method: This is an analytic observational study with cross-sectional study. Ninety five samples were participated. Data processed by chi square test.
Result: Based on data the use of sulfadoxine, 14 people diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and 15 people diagnosed with non-SJS of Drug Eruption, while based on data of drug use other types, 26 people diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and 40 people diagnosed non-SJS of Drug Eruption. The results show the value of p = 0.419, PR = 0.816, 95% confidence interval = 0.504 to 1.320.
Conclusion: There is no correlation between sulfadoxine therapy and Steven-Johnson syndrome occurrence.
