ADSORPSI FENOL OLEH KOMBINASI ADSORBEN ZEOLIT ALAM DAN KARBON AKTIF DENGAN METODE KOLOM
Abstract
Pencemaran air oleh fenol dapat memberikan dampak buruk terhadap kesehatan lingkungan dan makhluk hidup. Adsorpsi fenol telah dilakukan untuk menurunkan kadar fenol menggunakan kombinasi dua adsorben dengan metode kolom. Adsorben yang digunakan adalah zeolit alam pada kolom I dan karbon aktif dari tandan kelapa sawit (TKS) pada kolom II. Adsorpsi dilakukan dengan variasi ukuran partikel untuk zeolit alam 16 dan 20 mesh serta karbon aktif 80 dan 100 mesh dengan variasi waktu masing-masing 2, 4 dan 6 jam. Hasil adsorpsi dianalisis dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 510 nm. Total penurunan kadar fenol yang terbaik diperoleh pada kombinasi kolom zeolit alam 20 mesh-karbon aktif 100 mesh pada waktu kontak 6 jam yaitu sebesar 97,55%.
