TRANSESTERIFIKASI LANGSUNG MIKROALGA (Chlorella, Sp.) DENGAN RADIASI GELOMBANG MIKRO
Abstract
Transesterifikasi langsung terhadap mikroalga (Chlorella, Sp.) telah dilakukan tanpa melakukan proses ekstraksi asam lemak dan menggunakan abu tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKS) sebagai katalis yang direaksikan dalam microwave rumah tangga 400 watt. Penggunaan microwave berpengaruh terhadap laju reaksi transesterifikasi dan waktu reaksi yang lebih singkat. Pada penelitian ini telah dipelajari pengaruh besarnya ratio konsentrasi antara minyak mikroalga dan alkohol serta pengaruh waktu reaksi terhadap produk metil ester yang dihasilkan. Randemen hasil terbaik 95,03 % pada perbandingan minyak mikroalga : metanol 1 : 12 selama 10 menit. Karakteristik produk meliputi viskositas 10,281 cSt, dengan kerapatan 0,9077 g ml-1, serta indek bias 1,46. Hasil GC-MS menunjukan komposisi metil ester terdiri dari metil oleat (64,68%), metil palmitat (19,63%), dan metil linoleat (7,81%).
