AKTIVITAS SITOTOKSIK DAN ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK BATANG KARAMUNTING (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Aiton) Hassk)
Abstract
Tumbuhan karamunting (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Aiton) Hassk) secara tradisional sering digunakan sebagai obat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas sitotoksik dan antioksidan ekstrak batang tumbuhan karamunting (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Aiton) Hassk). Metode yang digunakan untuk mengetahui aktivitas sitotoksiknya secara Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT), sedangkan untuk aktivitas antioksidannya digunakan metode 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai LC50 ekstrak kental metanol batang karamunting adalah 4,55 ppm, fraksi metanol 5,11 ppm, fraksi etil asetat 4,82 ppm dan fraksi n-heksana 3,41 ppm. Fraksi n-heksana menunjukkan aktivitas sitotoksik yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan ekstrak metanol dan fraksi laninnya. Hasil pengukuran aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan nilai IC50 ekstrak kental metanol batang karamunting sebesar 18,97 ppm, fraksi metanol 24,23 ppm, fraksi etil asetat 28,83 ppm, fraksi n-heksana 114,17 ppm. Ekstrak kental metanol, fraksi metanol dan fraksi etil asetat batang karamunting memiliki sifat antioksidan yang sangat kuat sedangkan fraksi n-heksana memiliki sifat antioksidan sedang.
