PENGARUH pH TERHADAP ADSORPSI CERIUM (IV) DARI TAILING PETI MENGGUNAKAN KOMPOSIT KITOSAN-KARBON BEADS TERIKAT SILANG GLUTARALDEHID
Abstract
Telah dilakukan adsorpsi logam Cerium dari tailing PETI menggunakan komposit kitosan-karbon beads terikat silang glutaraldehid. Tailing PETI didestruksi menggunakan asam sulfat dimana hasil analisis XRF menunjukkan terdapat logam tanah jarang (LTJ) Cerium (Ce) sebesar 14,298 %. Adsorpsi logam Cerium dilakukan menggunakan komposit kitosan-karbon beads terikat silang glutaraldehid. Karakterisasi komposit tersebut didasarkan pada analisis FTIR dimana pembentukan komposit kitosan-karbon terikat silang glutaraldehid ditunjukkan dengan munculnya pita serapan gugus C=N pada bilangan gelombang 1639,19 cm-1. Analisis SEM dan SAA menunjukkan bahwa komposit memiliki morfologi aglomerat dengan celah-celah pori pada permukaan komposit tersebut dan memiliki luas permukaan sebesar 582,506 m2/g. Optimasi pH larutan umpan cerium melalui proses adsorpsi metode batch dilakukan dengan variasi pH yaitu 0, 1, 2, 3, 5 dan 8. Adsorpsi optimum Cerium terjadi pada pH = 1. Berdasarkan hasil optimasi tersebut logam Cerium yang terdapat dalam konsentrat LTJ berhasil diadsorpsi oleh komposit kitosan-karbon beads terikat silang glutaraldehid dengan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 0,333 mg/g.
