PENENTUAN KAPASITAS ADSORPSI LOGAM Ce (IV) PADA ADSORBEN KITOSAN"“KARBON BEADS TERIKAT SILANG GLUTARALDEHID
Abstract
Cerium merupakan unsur golongan logam tanah jarang. Cerium memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi di bidang industri berteknologi tinggi. Ekstraksi logam cerium dapat dilakukan melalui metode adsorpsi menggunakan komposit beads kitosan"“karbon beads yang terikat silang glutaraldehid. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui karakteristik adsorben komposit kitosan"“ karbon beads yang terikat silang glutaraldehid dan mengetahui kapasitas adsorben. Komposit kitosan"“karbon dibuat dengan melakukan pencetakan dalam bentuk beads di dalam larutan Natrium Hidroksida (NaOH) dilanjutkan dengan ikat silang menggunakan glutaraldehid. Karakterisasi adsorben komposit dilakukan menggunakan metode spektrofotometri inframerah. Pengaruh konsentrasi adsorpsi logam Ce(IV) dipelajari dengan cara memvariasikan konsentrasi awal ion logam pada kisaran 50-250 ppm. Berdasarkan perhitungan komposit kitosan-karbon beads mengikuti dua model isoterm adsorpsi Freundlich (R2=0,903) dan Langmuir (R2=0,841).hasil adsorpsi menunjukkan bahwa adsorben mampu menyerap logam Ce(IV) sebesar 76,3% dan kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum komposit kitosan-karbon beads mengikuti dua model isoterm adsorpsi Freundlich (0,900) dan Langmuir (0,0398).
