KAPASITAS ADSORPSI ION LOGAM Cd(II) PADA BIOARANG DAUN KETAPANG (Terminalia catappa Linn)
Abstract
Telah dilakukan sintesis bioarang dari daun ketapang dengan proses karbonisasi pada suhu 300oC selama 30 menit. Kualitas bioarang diuji berdasarkan standar SII No. 0258-88 meliputi uji kadar air, kadar abu, daya serap iod, dan daya serap metilen biru. Karakterisasi bioarang menggunakan spektrofotometer fourier transform infra red (FTIR) untuk mengetahui gugus fungsi dan analisis scanning electron microscope (SEM) dilakukan untuk mengetahui morfologi permukaan bioarang. Bioarang hasil sintesis di aplikasikan untuk adsorpsi logam Cd(II) dengan variasi konsentrasi 1 ; 2 ; 4 ; 6 ; 8; 10 mg/L serta dipelajari pola isoterm adsorpsi yang terjadi secara Langmuir, Freundlich dan BET (Brunauer-Emmet-Teller). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai kadar air sebesar 3,38%, kadar abu 13,67%, daya serap iod 109,3628 mg/g, daya serap metilen biru 23,885 mg/g. Analisis FTIR menunjukkan adanya gugus fungsi C-H , C-O, dan O-H pada bioarang. Hasil analisis SEM menunjukkan terbentuknya pori bioarang dengan ukuran mikropori. Pada bioarang Interaksi adsorpsi berlangsung secara fisisorpsi, mengikuti model isoterm Langmuir dan BET dengan kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum (Xm) 10,4058 mg/g dan konstanta kesetimbangan (K) yakni 0,06568 L/mg serta penurunan kadar ion Cd(II) sebesar 66,7-99%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui adsorben bioarang daun Ketapang mempunyai kinerja yang baik terhadap adsorpsi ion logam Cd(II).
