Persepsi Masyarakat Lokal Terhadap Keberadaan Hutan Mangrove di Desa Sungai Nyirih Kecamatan Jawai Kabupaten Sambas

Abstract

Mangrove forest is a type of forest consisting of formations of specific plants and generally found growing and developing in protected coastal areas in the tropics and subtropics. The research objective was to obtain local community perceptions of the existence of mangrove forests in Sungai Nyirih Village, Jawai District and explain the relationship each of the factors of knowledge, dependency and cosmopolitan on people's perceptions. The study used a survey method with interview techniques with 90 respondents who were guided by questionnaires, and observation techniques were carried out in Sungai Nyirih Village, Jawai District. The results showed that local people's perceptions of the existence of mangrove forests in Sungai Nyirih Village tended to be high with 73 respondents (81.1%) high 17 respondents (18.9%) being moderate and no respondents who were included in low perceptions (0% ). Communities feel the benefits of mangrove forests so that people tend to have a good perception of mangrove forests and people do not know much about the proper use of mangrove forests.

Abstrak

Hutan mangrove adalah jenis hutan yang terdiri atas formasi dari tumbuhan yang spesifik dan umumnya dijumpai tumbuh dan berkembang pada kawasan pesisir yang terlindung di daerah tropika dan subtropika.Tujuan penelitian adalah mengkaji persepsi masyarakat lokal terhadap keberadaan hutan mangrove di Desa Sungai Nyirih Kecamatan Jawai dan menjelaskan hubungan masing-masing faktor pengetahuan, ketergantungan dan kosmopolitan terhadap persespi masyarakat. Penelitian menggunakan metode survei dengan teknik wawancara terhadap 90 responden yang di pandu dengan kuesioner, dan teknik observasi dilakukan di Desa Sungai Nyirih Kecamatan Jawai. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa persepsi masyarakat lokal terhadap keberadaan hutan mangrove di Desa Sungai Nyirih cenderung tinggi dengan 73 responden (81,1%) tinggi 17 responden (18,9%) sedang dan tidak ditemukan responden yang termasuk ke dalam persepsi rendah (0%). Masyarakat merasakan manfaat hutan mangrove, sehingga masyarakat cenderung memiliki persepsi yang baik mengenai hutan mangrove dan masyarakat belum banyak mengetahui pemanfaatan hutan mangrove secara tepat.
