Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan representasi matematis dalam menyelesaikan soal open-ended ditinjau dari tingkat kemampuan dasar siswa pada materi segiempat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian survei. Subjek penelitian adalah kelas VIII A SMP N 5 Pontianak. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa tingkat kemampuan dasar atas memiliki kemampuan representasi visual tinggi, kemampuan representasi simbol sedang, kemampuan representasi verbal rendah. Siswa tingkat kemampuan dasar menengah memiliki kemampuan representasi visual sedang, kemampuan representasi simbol sedang, dan kemampuan representasi verbal sangat rendah. Siswa tingkat kemampuan dasar bawah memiliki kemampuan representasi visual sedang, kemampuan representasi simbol rendah, kemampuan representasi verbal sangat rendah.

Abstract: This research aims to find out students"™ mathematical representation ability in solving open ended problems based on students"™ basic skill level in quadrangle topic. This research method was descriptive method with survey form. The subject of this research was class VIII A of SMP N 5 Pontianak. The result of data analysis showed that students with high basic skill had high visual representation ability, intermediate symbolic representation ability, and low verbal representation ability. Students with intermediate basic skill had intermediate visual representation ability, intermediate symbolic representation ability, and very low verbal representation ability. Students with low basic skill had intermediate visual representation ability, low symbolic representation ability, and very low verbal representation ability.
