Abstract: Adverb is a part of speech that is often used in our daily life. In Chinese , adverb that often used is "jiu" and "cai", these two words have different function and have prominent differences such as different in meaning . The learners who study Chinese as a second language, will face these difficulties during learning adverb of "jiu" and "cai" .There are some erros in using these adverbs.   Therefore, adverb has become the most important part in teaching Chinese grammar.

The writer used the comparative teaching method to teach adverbs "jiu" and "cai" for the Eleventh Grade Class 1 and class 3 students of Social Science of Santu Petrus Senior High School. The purpose is to improve students comprehensive  mastery of the adverb "jiu" and "cai" . In addition, test method was used to find out the students"™ studying condition and to compare their pre-test and post-test result.   The results are significant, students"™ score after learning the material are higher than before learning the material. It means comparison method is suitable for teaching adverbs "jiu" and "cai".
