THE USE OF “EURO TALK INTERACTIVE” SOFTWARE TO IMPROVE PRONUNCIATION

Abstract

The Eurotalk Interactive Software used in this research was to improve pronunciation. The purpose of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Eurotalk Interactive Software in improving students’ pronunciation. In this research, the pronunciation observed was vowel “ʌ” and consonant “ʃ“. The sample was observed in this research was students of class VII B that consisted of 40 students at SMPN 11 Pontianak. The research used pre-experimental method. The result from t-test was that t-value (3.48) was higher than t-table (1.684). The effect size of this research was categorized as “moderate effect” because the result of the computation was (1.00). Therefore it was concluded that the use of Euro Talk Interactive software could improve students’ pronunciation in pronouncing vowel “ʌ” and consonant “ʃ“. (128 words)

Abstrak: Eurotalk Ineractive Software yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan pelafalan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keberhasilan Eurotalk Ineractive Software  dalam meningkatkan pelafalan. Dalam penelitian ini, pelafalan yang diteliti adalah vowel “ʌ” and consonant “ʃ“. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII B yang terdiri dari 40 siswa di SMPN 11 Pontianak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-experimental. Hasil dari t-test adalah t-value (3,48) lebih tinggi dari t-table (1,684). Effect size dari penelitian ini adalah “moderate effect” dimana hasil dari penghitungan adalah (1,00). Oleh karena itu, dapat di simpulkan bahwa penggunaan Euro Talk Interactive software dapat meningkatkan pelafalan siswa khususnya dalam melafalkan vowel “ʌ” and consonant “ʃ“. (112 kata)
