Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of contextual approach towards the ability in writing descriptive composition on the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 17 Pontianak Kota. This study used an experimental method with Quasy Experimental form using Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this research were 64 students which the entire population were sampled. The samples were V B as an experiment class and V A as a control class. Based on the t-test, the calculation result obtained t test (2,538) > t table (1.670) with significance level α = 5% means a significant influence using contextual approach. The value of effect size (ES) is 0.620 with moderate category. It means that contextual approach give an effect to the ability in writing descriptive composition on the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 17 Pontianak Kota.
