Abstract: This study aims to describe the comparison of the use of technology-based media in learning to write news text in SMP Negeri 1 Pinoh Utara and SMP Negeri 1 Pinoh Selatan, Melawi regency. The method in this research is descriptive with the form of qualitative research. This study was conducted by looking at the comparison of media usage in two schools. The results of this study indicate that the students' learning outcomes in SMP Negeri 1 Pinoh Utara is 77.69 and at SMP Negeri 1 Pinoh Selatan is 78.09. The learning comparison ratio is 0.4. Then, based on observations of the use of media of the comparison lies Know the initial knowledge of the students, set the objectives of psychomotor learning, prepare the media and other needs in the application of media, provide further explanation on the material, provide specific direction, directing with various stimulus, media given in accordance with the content of the lesson, and evaluation of learning.
