Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of misconception remediation using DIRECT INSTRUCTION learning model assisted by Energy2D animation on matter of heat transfer in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. The sample of this research was VII A class (control class) of 28 students and class VII B (experimental class) of 27 students who were selected by intact group random sampling technique. The research instrument was a diagnostic test consisting of 15 multiple choice questions with an open reason. Based on data analysis, the mean percentage decreasing of misconception students in experiment class (56%) and control class (14%). Zhitung> Ztabel (4,00> 1,96). DIRECT INSTRUCTION learning model assisted by Energy2D animation was 68% (with medium category) effective to remediate students"™ misconception. It was expected to be used as an alternative remediation activity to improve misconceptions experienced by students.
