Abstract

This study aims to obtain data on "Implementation of Medium Picture Stories that Can Improve Student Reading Skills of Class II State Elementary School 16 Pontianak City." Using descriptive research method with the form of classroom action research. Subject, State Elementary School 16 Pontianak City, and students of class II amounted to 32 students. Technique of collecting data of observation and observation of documents. By qualitative data analysis. The study was conducted 3 cycles with the results obtained, the ability of teachers to design the learning cycle I average 2.66 categories enough. Cycle II averages 3.34 good categories. Cycle III averages 3.73 categories very well. Improved ability of teachers to design the learning cycle I to cycle III of 1.07. The ability of teachers to implement learning cycle I an average of 2.37 categories enough. Cycle II averages 3.12 good categories. Cycle III averages 3.54 excellent categories. Improvement of teacher ability to implement learning cycle I until cycle III equal to 1,17. Student learning outcomes cycle I average 56.77 cycle II average 70.83 cycle III average 77.6. Improvement of students' reading skill of cycle I until cycle III is 20,83. Thus it can be concluded there is an increase in each cycle. Research with the application of story medium can improve the reading skill of second grade students of elementary school 16 Pontianak City.
