Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the improvement of the ability to read the beginning of children by applying the use of picture card media in children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Sister Pontianak.Metode applied by the method of question and answer and giving tasks, teachers less involving children in learning.Selama this, reading lessons are not allowed at the kindergarten level unless only the introduction of letters and numbers. However, in recent developments this can cause problems, because the lessons in the first grade of elementary school are difficult to follow if the children of kindergarten graduates have not been able to read so kindergarten teachers should be able to choose appropriate strategies and instructional media. The problem of this research is: "Whether by applying the use of picture card media can improve the reading ability of the beginning of 5-6 year old children in kindergarten Sister Pontianak". This form of research is a classroom action research. Research subjects are teachers who amounted to 1 person and children who numbered 24 children. This research uses descriptive method, data collection techniques using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data analysis was done by percentage technique
