Abstract

The research based on contribution and dedication of Mr. Muhammad Yusuf Dahyani for his existence and growth to develop Melayu tradition music in Pontianak. The research is about a lack of enthusiasm from local artists which is relevant to it"™s contribution and dedication to keep the existence of traditional art in Pontianak. The purpose of this research are 1) to describe the life story of Mr. Muhammad Yusuf Dahyani until he become a figure who represent Melayu dance music in Pontianak, 2) to describe the creative process of Mr. Muhammad Yusuf Dahyani in one of  Melayu dance music in Pontianak. The method that used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative research form. This research used biography and sociology approach. The data in this research is the result of observation, interview, and documentation from the interviewers wich are Mr. Muhammad Yusuf Dahyani as primary interviewers, Anwar Dja"™far and Reza Zulianda as secondary interviewers. The result is about history of Mr. Muhammad Yusuf Dahyani until he become a figure who represent Melayu dance music in Pontianak. The result of this research also present the creative process of Mr. Muhammad Yusuf Dahyani in one of the Melayu dance musics in Pontianak.
