Abstrack
In learning languages, comparative sentences are often used in real life situations, especially the word "bi" in Mandarin and Indonesian. Sentences with "bi" are important components in teaching grammatical rules in Mandarin. Mandarin learners, when using "bi", are often influenced by Indonesian language that results in the inaccurate use of "bi". The writer researches on the use of "bi" in Mandarin. Besides references from books, the writer also investigates the batch 2016 students of the faculty of Mandarin language at Tanjungpura University whether they are affected by Indonesian language when using "bi" in order to collect more accurate data before suggesting solutions. Through this research, the writer is examining the similarities and differences in the word "bi" in Mandarin and Indonesian language. This is expected to assist Mandarin teachers to come up with effective methods in teaching "bi".
