Abstract
The objective of this research was to find out the ability of students"™ creative thinking in the terms of analogy ability in solving open-ended problems in fractional material in SMPN 5 Pontianak. The method of this research was descriptive study with the form of case study assessment. The subject of this research was 36 students in grade VIII G of SMPN 5 Pontianak. The result of the research showed that the students"™ creative thinking ability with the strong analogical ability"™s students was in the category level of creative to very creative, the moderate analogical ability"™s students was in the category level of creative enough to very creative, and the weak analogical ability"™s students was at the category level of not creative to creative enough. In conclusion, the creative thinking ability of grade 5 students of SMPN 5 Pontianak was assorted for each category of analogical ability. Student who were in category level of strong analogical ability did not always thinking very creative, and the students who were in the category of weak analogical ability did not always thinking not creative.
