Abstract

The title of the research is "Factors Causing Learning Difficulties in Sociology Learning on Year-10 Students of SMA Negeri 8 Pontianak". This research aims to determine the factors that cause learning difficulties in sociology learning seen from both internal and external factors. The method used in this research is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research involved six students as the informants and one sociology subject teacher as a supporting informant. The results of the study indicate students' learning difficulties from internal factors. According to the results of the observations and the interviews to students, it was found that the students show that there are factors which cause learning difficulties come from within themselves, such as characteristics of students that show low learning interest, attitudes towards learning shown by students ignoring the learning opportunities, low students"™ learning motivation, students find it difficult to concentrate on learning, and students"™ learning habits are not effective, while the external factors include teachers in the use of less varied methods, social environment (peer) could have a negative influence on learning, as well as the lack of supporting facilities and infrastructure seen from the limited sociology textbook resources in the library that cause children faced difficulties in learning.
