Abstract

The problem in this thesis is "How student's looking back potential in answering questions on arithmetic sequence and series at Taruna Bumi Khatuistiwa senior high school Kubu Raya in the school year of 2017/2018. The research method used is exploration method. The subject in this research is Students at class XI science Taruna Bumi Khatulistiwa senior high school Kubu Raya in the school year of 2017/2018.the subjects in this research were 6 students selected from 32 student base on each category. Data collection techniques use a test and non-test (interview). Data collection tool used in the form of test and interview. Based on the data analysis, there three type answering in indicator looking back describe of potential in answer first type. Check for the correctness of solution the process of checked the solution is shown by testing the values of a and b. That have been obtained will produce the known member of arithmetic sequence and series in the problem test. The results or number of it that are asked using a formula or calculation with backward flow manually. Found of alternative solutions the student can be demonstrated by using different methods and can determine a more efficient solution. Representation the extension of the solution to other related problems student can find examples of problems. That correspond to the questions asked, and can solve the problem in the same way and method.
