Abstract

The study of illiterate speech acts has a purpose so that speakers and interlocutor can avoid misunderstanding the meaning of a speech. The author chose the act of speech as the focus of research because the author wants to describe the meaning of each classification of act of speech. The source of the data is the novel Hujan Bulan Juni by Sapardi Djoko Damono in the form of sentences or conversation. The data collection tool is the researcher as a key instrument and uses auxiliary instruments in the form of a note containing the reading of the speech that contains the act of speech in the novel Hujan Bulan Juni by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The results showed that there were 123 speeches. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the most acts of speech   "question" directive and the act of speech "declarative" was the least.
