Abstract

The research was to avoid the readers"™ misunderstanding about the speech acts of the novel. The problems of this research are consist of the speech acts about illocutionary assertive, commissive and expressive which exist on the Dilan 1990 novel created by Pidi Baiq and its application in teaching and learning process in the school. The aim of this research is to describe the speech acts of illocutionary assertive, commissive and expressive on the Dilan 1990 novel created by Pidi Baiq. Firstly, the speech acts of illocutionary assertive "Tell" more dominant rather than the kinds of speech acts illocutionary assertive which have total 89 numbers. Secondly, the speech acts of illocutionary commissive "Offer" more dominant rather than the kinds of speech acts illocutionary comimissive which have total 16 numbers. Thirdly,the speech acts of illocutionary expressive "Thank full" more dominant rather than the kinds of speech acts illocutionary expressive which have total 52 numbers. Based on the results speech acts of the analytical of illocutionary assertive, commissive and expressive in the novel of Dilan 1990 novel could be applied in the learning process in the school as a modeling text.
