Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the development of children's vocabulary in the application of puppet media storytelling methods in the group of Pontianak Sister Kindergarten 2017/2018 Academic Year. This type of research was qualitative in this research approach. The researcher made direct observations to the teacher and child by analyzing and interviewing how the development of children's vocabulary in the Pontianak A Kindergarten Kindergarten group. What is the vocabulary material, media and steps given by the teacher that are tailored to the needs of the child by taking the stories that are around the child's life, as well as obstacles where the child is not focused and busy with friends around him. What obstacles are experienced in applying the storytelling method, as well as doing fairy tales and vocabulary for children. The teacher analyzes the vocabulary of children with children's categories rated as Developing according to Expectations if they master 90% of the expected new vocabulary. Children are considered as developing very well if they master 80% of the new vocabulary. Children are considered as Start Growing if they master 75% of the new vocabulary. Children are considered as Not Developing if they have not reached 70% of the new vocabulary.From the application of the storytelling method in addition to the vocabulary     applied by the teacher to the child, it should be varied such as foreign language vocabulary (English) which is easy and in accordance with the child's ability. Then the media used should use other characters such as media figures of human dolls, and can be made by themselves from planel cloth or velboa cloth.
