Abstract

Abstract

This research was motivated by the desire of researcher to find the values of character education in the novel Dia Adalah Kakakku by Tere Liye. This study aimed to describe religious values, honesty, hard work, creativity, curiosity, patience, and confidence. The method of this research is descriptive method with qualitative research. The approach used in literary sociology. The data source in this study is the novel Dia Adalah Kakakku in the form of quotations of words, phrases, clauses or sentences from the novel. The techniques and tools for collecting data are documentary studies and the researcher himself. The technique of testing the validity used persistence of observation, triangulation, and adequacy of references. Data analysis technique used content analysis. The results of the research on the value of character education in the novel are: (1) religious value, (2) honest value, (3) hard work, (4) creative value, (5) curiosity value, (6) value patience, (7) the value of confidence, and (8) the implementation of the value of character education for learning Indonesian language seen from the aspect of the curriculum, the purpose of literary learning, the selection of teaching materials, and proper readability as learning material for students of class XII high school.
