POTENSI PEMBUKTIAN MENGGUNAKAN COUNTER EXAMPLES DALAM MATERI BILANGAN DI SMP

Abstract

The problem in this research is "How students potential prove using counter examples in material of numbers at SMP Negeri 10 Pontianak school year 2018/2019". The research method that used was exploration method. Subject in this research was 6 students of class VII B SMP Negeri 10 Pontianak that choosed from 29 students based on every category. The data collection tehnique was used test and non test (interview). The collection tool that used was potential proof test, used counter examples and interview to look the students potential more deeper. Based on data analysis that collected, students potential in constructed the truth used counter examples was shown that students gave the examples of numbers that suitable with the statement information, and then operated it also suitable with the statement terms. The statement conclusion is wrong when there is one or more examples that not fulfill the statement. The student potential in proof validation using counter examples is showing that students determine one or more examples that suitable with statement terms but not fulfill the statement which give to them. For knowledge counter examples method potential is showing the students can distinguish the right statement and the wrong statement.
