Abstract
This research is aimed to find out how much the correlation between reading interest with students"™ achievement in learning at seven grade on students"™ IPS of SMP Negeri 10 Pontianak. The research method is used descriptive quattitave method. Sample in this research was class VII and the data was form statements in questionnaire with 3 indicators about reading interest namely feeling happy, concentration the attention, and use of time. The result of this research showed 3 indicators that have an average on each indicator. For pleasure feeling indicators obtained by an average of 2.28 categorized into low classifications, for concentration attention has an average of 2.50 categorized into low classification, and for time use has an average of 2.47 categorized into low classification . Based on data analysis techniques, the relationship between interest in reading and learning outcomes is 0.398 with a standard set of 0.05 at a significant level of 0.361. So that shows that the results of r count> r table is 0.398> 0.361, with a low level of relationship. So that with the relationship of interest in reading with learning outcomes of 0.398 with 39% associated with interest in reading while the remaining 61% related to other variables not examined in this study such as.
