Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see the procedures used by the sixth semeser students of English Education Study Program of Tanjungpura University in Academic year 2018/2019 in translating idioms in form of recount text. The researcher used descriptive study in this research. The descriptive study was used to describe and find out the translation procedure used by 18 students of sixth semester students as the sample in their translation. The result of this research showed that there were five procedures used by the students in their translations. They are paraphrase procedure that was used 60 times (41,7%), literal translation procedure that was used 39 times (27,1 %), equivalence procedure that was used 35 times (24,3%), no procedure that was used 4 times (2,8%), recognize translation procedure that was used 3 times (2%), and reduction and espansion procedure that was used 3 times (2%).
