Abstract

This experimental study aims to determine the effect of a cooperative learning model with the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) using mind map technique towards students"™ learning outcomes on the learning material Ecology grade tenh of MIA  class of SMAN 9 Pontianak. This research was conducted in the form of a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this study was selected using an intact group sampling technique. Class 2 MIA as the experimental class and X MIA 1 as the control class. The instrument used to collect the data was twenty numbers of a multiple-choice test. The mean scores attained by the experimental and control groups are respectively 16,43 and 13,40. The t-test with the critical value <tcount or tcount > is (-2 < 8,22 or 8,22 > -2). It shows that there is a difference between the learning outcomes of the group taught using the selected learning model and those taught using the conventional method. Effect size calculation shows the value with a high category by 1,12 and the level of influence by 36.86%.
