Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effect of parents' economic actions and motives on children's interest in continuing studies to college in Rengas Kapuas Village, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency. This research used multiple regression analysis with quantitative form. The research population was 163 people. The data source of this research was parents of students who were sampled using a cluster sampling area technique of 34 people. Data collection techniques used was indirect communication techniques using a likert scale questionnaire instrument (questionnaire) and documentary instruments. The results of data processing with the application of SPSS 17, it is known that (1) The economic actions of parents towards children's interests are included in the "good" category with a score of 1818 from a total score of 2380 or 77.6%, the economic motives of parents towards children's interests are included in the "good" with a score of 1315 out of a total score of 1700 or 77.1%. (2) There was a significant influence between the economic actions of parents on the child's interest in continuing to studies to college as indicated by a significant value of 0.034 <0.05 (3) There was a significant influence between the economic motives of parents on the child's interest in continuing studies to college indicated by a significant value of 0.041 <0.05 (4) There was a significant influence between the actions and economic motives of parents simultaneously on the child's interest in continuing studies to college in Rengas Kapuas Village, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency indicated by the Fcount value of 4.752> Ftable 3 , 30 with a significance value of 0.016. (5) The magnitude of the influence of parental economic actions and motives was 23.5% as seen from the R square value.
