Abstract

This study discusses efforts to increase interest in visiting students in the 34 public library in Pontianak City. The purpose of this study was to find out how librarians efforts to increase students interest in visiting the library. In conducting data retrieval to complete the final project, the author uses descriptive qualitative methods and data collection techniques are done by interview, observation, and documentation directly to the field. The results of the study that students were less visited by the library. Students prefer to play outside the classroom during recess rather than visiting the library. For that librarians try to attract students interest by holding promotion such as wathing together (wathing together) which is done every Friday morning, storytelling by bringing storytellersfrom outside who are held every Tuesday morning, and develoving the collection and procurement of new books which are done every mid semesters.
