Abstract

The research is to describe the aplication of scientific approach in thematic learning in grade six of Sekolah Dasar Negeri 62 Singkawang. The method that was used is a descriptive method with survey type. subject in this research are six grade students of Sekolah Dasar Negeri 62 Singkawang. The data collection technique that was used is a direct observation and documentation. The result of this research is to show that the teacher was using the learning design of using scientific approach. The activity of learning design which wascarried by the teacher is to arrange a lesson plan which describe the steps of preliminary activities.The implementation of this learning method which is using a scientific approach was carried out to the maximum, the average score of the first learning knowledge and the last is showing a significant increase in learning outcomes, and for the response of the students in this learning method could be explained that the students tend to have a lack of number of confidences in asking a questions, expressing opinions, and presentations in front of the class. aside from it, the students' have a difficulties in connecting an information that they got with a daily life problem.
