Abstract

This study aims to determine the fostering of young people's religiosity through the Eucharist of Youth in terms of mentality and spirituality in the Cathedral Church of St. Joseph of Pontianak. The research method used is descriptive with a form of qualitative research. The data sources of this research are students and the data are the activities of the Eucharist of Youth and interviews with pastors, brothers, community leaders, young people, and parents of young people. The results of the study prove that the development of religiosity in terms of mentality includes: First, the ritual dimension, fostering through the inculcation of the value of solidarity, namely unity among young people regardless of social background. Second, from the ideological dimension, fostering services and social empathy for young people to become agents of change for families and communities. Third, the intellectual dimension, fostering social values, namely responsibility, care, humanism, tolerance and democracy as well as human virtues that include wisdom, courage, self-mastery and justice. Meanwhile, fostering religiosity in terms of spirituality includes: First, the consequence dimension, namely the development of young people in developing ingrained values and forming expressive self-attitudes: easy to be friendly, communicative and adaptive. Second, the experiential dimension, coaching in building positive stereotypes: eliminating negative stigma and excessive narrow fanaticism and engaging in social activities and upholding cooperation.
