Abstract This study aimed to improve the learning outcomes of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 5 Pontianak on sound wave material by applying a cooperative learning model with the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) approach. The research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Determination of the sample of this study, using intact group random sampling with a total of 33 students. The data collection technique used in this study is a measurement technique with a measuring instrument in the form of a written test in the form of a description question. Wilcoxon test results obtained asymp values. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 with α = 0.005. This shows that there is an increase in student learning outcomes after the cooperative learning model is applied with the CUPs approach to learning. The level of effectiveness obtained is included in the high category, namely 6.17. Keywords: Conceptual Understanding Procedures, Cooperative Learning Model Sound Wave
