Abstract

Abstract A common research problem how to implement a problem-based learning model through a scientific approach by a sociology teacher in class XI IPS 4 at SMA Negeri 1 Sambas. Meanwhile, the sub-problem of this research was how to plan, implement, and assess the implementation of problem-based learning models through a scientific approach by a sociology teacher in class XI IPS 4 at SMA Negeri 1 Sambas. The research method used was descriptive with a qualitative research form. The data sources of this research were the sociology teacher and four students of class XI IPS 4 SMA Negeri 1 Sambas. Data collection techniques in this study were through interviews, observation and documentation, while the data collection tools used were interview guides, observation and documentation. The analysis in this study was presented in a descriptive qualitative manner using five informants, consisting of one sociology teacher and four students. The results of this study indicate that the sociology teacher has planned, implemented, and assessed learning outcomes in the use of a problem-based learning model through a scientific approach to sociology learning in class XI IPS 4 SMA Negeri 1 Sambas. There were several deficiencies in the implementation of the problem-based learning model through a scientific approach, such as the teacher not doing syntax / problem-based learning steps, namely guiding individual and group investigations.
