Abstract

The problem in this study is "How is the effect of audiovisual media on the speaking skills of class V students of elementary school number 39 Sungai Raya?" This study aims to analyze the effect of audiovisual media on the speaking skills of fifth grade students of State Elementary School 39 Sungai Raya. This study used an experimental method, with Quasi-experimental Design form. The population and sample in this research is all students of class V Elementary School number 39 Sungai Raya, totaling 22 people. Techniques used in data collection is direct communication techniques. Based on the data analysis, it was obtained that the average pre-test result of the students was 68.82 and the average of the students post-test results was 72.50. After the t-test was carried out, it was obtained that t count was 5.052 > while t table (α)=5% was 1.721 which meant that there was a significant effect on the application of audiovisual media. The results of the calculation of the effect size obtained 0.47 with the criteria classified as moderate. This means that audiovisual media has a influence on the speaking skills of class V students of elementary school number 39 Sungai Raya.
