Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the application of crossword puzzles media on the learning outcomes of class X IIS 5 students at State Senior High School 1 Sungai Raya. The form of this research is the One-Group Pretest-posttest Design. The population in this study were all students of class X, while the sample in this study was class X IIS 5, which totaled 36 students. The technique of collecting data was the measurement of the learning outcomes test in the form of multiple choices, which amounted to 20 items. The results showed the differences in student learning outcomes before and after the experiment where the mean value before the experiment was 63.47 and the average value after the experiment was 83.52. The difference in learning outcomes can be shown by calculations using the t-test formula, the t table value is 1.69 at the significant level of 5% and 2.43 at the significant level of 1%, which means that it is smaller than t count 11.452, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the application of crossword puzzle media has an effect on the learning outcomes of class X IIS 5 students at SMA N 1 Sungai Raya.
