Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the strengthening of environmental literacy
through environmental knowledge, attitudes and behavior of fifth grade

students and to determine the effectiveness of students in problem solving-
based mathematics learning. The research was conducted at the State

Elementary School 14 Senapit Bengkayang. This research uses quasi-
experimental design. The subjects in this study were the principal, teachers

and students. Data collection was carried out by means of documentation,
observation, measurement, indirect communication, data collection tools
using observation sheets. The technique of checking the validity of the data
uses SPSS. The results showed that the strengthening of environmental
literacy through environmental knowledge, attitudes and behavior as well as
sensitivity as well as student effectiveness in problem solving-based
mathematics learning had gone well and showed that the post-test mean score
of group 2 was greater than the group 2. 1, namely 40.38 in groups 2 and
41.50 and if seen, the standard deviation of group 2 is greater, namely 1.302
and group 1 is 9.26. The effectiveness of a learning model is a standard of
success, meaning that the more successful the learning is to achieve
predetermined goals, the higher the level of effectiveness.
