Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the forms and patterns of formation of various slang used on social media, namely in the PPL group chat at SMA 8 Pontianak. The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative research form. The data source in this study was the variety of slang used by PPL students on WhatsApp social media, namely the PPL Group of SMA 8 Pontianak. The data collection technique used was the documentation study technique. Meanwhile, the tools used in this study were cellphones, notebooks, and pens. Based on the results of data analysis in this study, there are three different forms of slang in the PPL group of SMA 8 Pontianak, namely the basic form, the form of the phrase, the form of the clause. There are four patterns of formation of slang variations in the PPL group of SMA 8 Pontianak, namely the formation pattern of abbreviations (abbreviations, decapitation, acronyms, and contraction), phonological formation patterns (reversal, insertion, release, addition, and phoneme change), new word formation patterns, and punching formation patterns. The supplement produced is a negotiation text as a material for learning Indonesian for class X 2013 Curriculum using a variety of slang online.
