Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes by using crossword puzzle
media on the heat material of SMP Negeri 14 Pontianak. The form of this research is
pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted
of 35 class VII I students selected through an intact group. The research instrument
was in the form of multiple choice tests of 15 questions and students' questionnaire
responses. The results of this study consisted of: 1) There were differences in learning
outcomes before and after the implementation of the crossword puzzle media with an
average pretest score of 7.05 and an average posttest score of 11.33; 2) There is an
increase in student learning outcomes after using crossword puzzle media on heat
material that is equal to 0.54 (medium category); 3) Students' responses to the use of
crossword puzzle media in learning activities are 78% (good category). The use of
crossword puzzle media is expected to be one of the alternative media in improving
physics learning outcomes.
