Abstract

This study aims to determine the socialization by the board of directors in disciplining new occupants in the male student dormitory of Uncak Kapuas Pontianak. The research method used is descriptive in the form of qualitative research. The source of the data for this research is the results of observations, interviews, documentation with hostel administrators, new occupants and archives of hostel administrators at the Uncak Kapuas Student Dormitory Pontianak. The results of this study show that in disciplining new occupants in the hostel, the repressive socialization given by the hostel management to new residents who are undisciplined gives warnings and light to severe punishments, the punishment given is seen from the violations that are violated by the new residents and participatory socialization that given by the Board of Directors by giving rewards to new students but not specifically, giving rewards to all new students. If the new students are disciplined in the rules of the hostel, the board of directors will reduce ospek activities and speed up the inauguration of new students.
