ABSTRACT
Learning difficulties are problems experienced by learners in the form of the
inability to concentrate, receive and memorize the learning materials, and recall
the memory. This research focuses on studying the learning difficulties of class VIII
F students of SMPN 3 Pontianak during distant learning in learning materials
about the arrival of western nations to Indonesia. The problems studied included
difficulties in concentrating and recalling. The method used in this study is
qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data analysis technique used
is data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. Data verification is done
through data triangulation and theoretical triangulation techniques. Based on the
results in this study, there are internal and external factors that make it difficult for
students to focus and remember the subject matters. Internal factors include health
conditions, emotional states, internal motivation, and self-readiness to receive the
lesson. In addition, external factors include the condition of the learning
environment, the learning atmosphere, and the learning facilities.
