Abstract

Abstract

The development research of pictorial teaching materials based on this linguistic method aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of pictorial teaching materials based on linguistic methods. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) that uses the development design of Borg and Gall. The research was conducted in low grades with 30 students as respondents. The technique of collecting data is using questionnaires and tests. The result of research and development shows that the media expert validation assessment validator 1 = 71.87% and validator 2 = 75% feasible category, linguist assessment validator 1 = 84.3% and validator 2 = 81.2% categorized as very feasible, expert judgment material validator 1 = 85.7% and validator 2 = 85.7% categorized as very feasible. The trial results of small group and large group showed an increase in students' reading skills seen from the small group got an average pretest 42.5 and post test 70, the large group of SDN 01 Balai Karangan got an average 26.67 and post test 70, SDN 02 Balai Karangan got an average 46.67 and post test 80, SDN 03 Balai Karangan got an average 35 and post test 80, SDN 16 Kenaman got an average 41.67 ang post test 75 and SDN 22 PAUS go and average pre test of 36.67 and post test 81.67. Thus concluded that pictorial teaching materials based on linguistic methods are feasible and effective to use.
