Abstract

One of the problems faced by students in learning Mandarin is writing Chinese characters. To improve the ability in learning Chinese characters, the author uses the card method in class X accounting 2 SMK LKIA Pontianak. And to understand the students' ability in mastering the stroke order of Chinese letters, the author uses the test method to test the students of class X accounting 2 SMK LKIA Pontianak. The test method is divided into pre-test and post-test. The pretest results found that 55% of students often had difficulty in ordering Chinese characters because they had just learned Chinese. The post-test results showed that more than 80% of the students were very interested in Chinese characters. This means that learning Chinese characters is very important for them. The card method is also effective on students' memory skills. 55% of students think that the card method can help them recognize Chinese characters and improve their memory skills. 65% of students feel that using the card method can create a relaxed and active classroom atmosphere. Students also felt that using the card method could improve their understanding of Chinese characters. 75% of students feel that using the card method inside and outside the classroom is very helpful for students to learn the stroke order of Chinese letters and train students' memory.
